A Touch Above Enchanted

Love is madness… I knew the moment I looked into your eyes.” Those are lyrics from the new Thirty Seconds To Mars album, which is amazing by the way.

Isn’t it crazy what happens to us when we let a person take center-stage of our desires? Infatuated, enamored, or enraptured fall from adequate in describing what really seems like worship.

Think about the weight of that word. Worship is described as reverence for a deity. Wars have been waged and lives have been taken in the name of such concrete beliefs. Laying down your life for that which is worshiped feels as natural as falling asleep after a long day. When we meet a person that takes all of our breath from us, we freely lay down our lives to keep having those breaths taken away.

Finish writing the book? After I see her. Finish prospecting new clients for my business? After I see her.

Maybe it’s because, buried deep within us, there is a nature that calls out to be in relationship and deep connectedness with someone else. Think about the weight of that word. Nature simply is. There’s really no other way to describe it. When that breathtaking adventure/disaster comes our way, how do we not let it consume us? We don’t. We allow it to swallow us whole.

It’s invigorating. It’s exhilarating. It’s fascinating. It can also be lethal. And we not only welcome it with open arms, we search for it. Tirelessly searching in effort to rid ourselves of breath. Love is madness.
