This is one of my favorite quotes: “There’s no praise and no blame on the path you’ve chosen. It’s time you blew into your own sails.”
We seem to always be waiting for someone to come along and speak the right word to us to get us up and moving. You need to speak the right word to yourself. You need to encourage you and believe you can make it through this storm. We can’t wait for people to come along and speak life to us. We must speak life to ourselves.
Even if you had ten thousand people standing around you saying they knew you could do something, if you didn’t know within yourself, you’d never get it done. I talk a lot about the importance of associating and keeping the right people in your life, but YOU are also in your life. And YOU are not exactly going anywhere. You can’t separate yourself from yourself. But the question is, are you good for you or are you bad for you? Are you someone you want to associate yourself with or are you someone that’s toxic for you and you’d get away from if you could?
We say things to ourselves that our worst enemies only whisper behind our backs. Even the brave enemies that have said terrible things to us aren’t as terrible as what we continually say to ourselves.
“I love you. I forgive you. You deserve these great things to happen to you. Love conquers all.” I say this to myself in the mirror everyday in the morning when I wake up and at night before I go to bed. Sometimes throughout the day. I’ll remind myself that I’m awesome and that I actually like myself.
I was listening to Brian Tracy and he had a simple exercise that I definitely urge you to practice. Simply say to yourself, out loud, “I like myself.” Say it several times and allow yourself to believe it.
Believe me, it’s not what other people say about you that will help you live a full life with a light/joyful heart, but what you say about you. If you don’t love yourself, nobody else can.
