Rags and Dishes

We always hear those rags to riches stories and they’re awesome because many of us feel as though we can relate. Sort of an, “If he did it… I can do it.” And that’s really the power that lies within our stories. The power to affect. (Or is it effect??? Ughhhh I never get that right.) Anyway! I have a pretty cool rags to riches story that I’d like to share today. The title of the blog is a play on words and you’ll see why in a second. When I was 18, I worked at a golf club as a dishwasher--maybe you see where I’m going now with the title 😉

I made like seven bucks an hour and would walk to work because I didn’t have a car or a license. Tonight was pretty cool because I got paid one thousand dollars to speak to a great group of people on dreaming and taking dream leaps. I spoke about leaving my full-time job and driving across the country to pursue dreams. I spoke about looking within yourself to find the things you should be doing to live a great life. I spoke about a whole bunch of interesting things at the same golf club that I once worked in as dishwasher making seven dollars an hour. Tonight I made thirty-three dollars per minute.
