That Time I Was On TV

I’ve been talking a lot lately, whether to groups or with individual conversation, about taking a dream leap. A dream leap is exactly what it sounds like. Stepping out in faith in pursuit of a dream. When I talk about this, I always quote Paulo Coelho. In The Alchemist, he says, “When a person really desires something, all the universe conspires to help that person to realize his dream.” When I quit my full-time job as a college administrator to drive across the country to California, I didn’t have a job waiting for me or a place to stay (I burned my ships to ensure success.)

Within days of submitting my official resignation, I got a call from my best friend’s parents. They had a relative in Los Angeles that had recently passed away. They asked if I could stay in the condo until it went to market and sold. So for the first three months of living in one of the most expensive cities in the world, I lived in a two bedroom condo for free. It didn’t just end there though.

I received an email asking if I’d be interested in being featured on a television program to do an interview about my first book, “Choice and Triumph.” That’s not really the significant part of the story though. For about a year before I came to the decision to move to Los Angeles, I’d listened to Les Brown everyday. He’s a motivational speaker and truly one of the world’s best. After listening to him as often as I was, he quickly became an inspiration and a hero. Someone I began to really look up to.

Here is a link to the same audio I listened to, literally, every day: (https://youtu.be/ZsCML0xt1rk )

The man responsible for connecting me with this television company was Dr. Ruben West. Care to venture a guess as to who Dr. West had done extensive work with? If you said Les Brown, you’d be correct (I know… Universe… crazy right?!) To be honest, how he happened across my information in order to connect me to the show is still a mystery to me. Even Dr. West was somewhat fuzzy on how my info came across his desk.

The Universe will sometimes keep her secrets. But her laws are always clear and for ALL to know. But in order to take advantage of these incredible laws, we are called to do one simple thing. Make actionable faith a part of our lives. Even more simply put, take action on the things that seem crazy.

I promise and guarantee that the people closest to you will think you’ve lost your mind. That is a great place to be.
